Redbriar

This story is set in Redbriar, North Carolina, a village deep in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Stuart Burns, the wealthiest man in the County and a well-known artist, carefully teaches his daughter, Tad, all he knows about painting. At age fourteen her close relationship with her father is shattered when her mother dies and Stuart is suspected of murder. After he was convicted of killing his wife, Stuart's cadre of lawyers secures his release from jail. The wealthiest man in Jefferson County is now the most hated. Tad runs away from home and hides in the mountains surrounding Redbriar. Stuart's efforts to find and convince her of his innocence seem impossible and he realizes he must settle for her forgiveness instead. Tad, after eight years of living in the most primitive conditions grows from girlhood into womanhood and is ready to face her father. Redbriar is a story of enduring love between a father and daughter separated by circumstances that seem impossible to overcome.
