Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Records of the Woodmen of Arden
Desire having been expressed by several members of the ancient Society of the Woodmen of the Forest of Arden that the celebration of the centenary of the revival of that distinguished meeting should be signalised by the production in a permanent shape of the transactions of the past hundred years, a committee was appointed for that purpose, and the present Editor was selected to compile the book under their direction. He has performed this labour of love to the best of his ability, and has to acknowledge With thanks the assist ance he has received from the other members of the committee, especially the Rev. C. Coker Beck, from the Secretaries of the Affiliated Societies, from the Clerk of the Peace for the county of Warwick, and from many other gentlemen, without Whose aid the volume would have been a more imperfect memorial of the interesting past than he fears it will even now be considered.
