Reconstructing a Lost Faith : By a Western Educated Indian

Is God absent from the world? The number of adults not identifying with any traditional religion is growing every day. It appears the feel is the religious institutions 'are too concerned with money power and politics' focused on 'rules'. I remember songs of yesterday: 'when I grow up' displaying doubt 'if I grow up'. This reveals confused state of young minds in the backdrop of 'state of the world': wars, terrorism, corruption along with advertising promoting materialism. 'This obscures harsh realities of life' which is not probing 'ultimate mysteries of life '. .'daily problems of justice apathy or religious faith'. While 'we follow self interest and desires of life' .there is a constant reminder to "this worldly" and "other 4 worldly." Hence one has to construct one's own belief. God in empirical science appears to be silent over so many worldly problems. 'But rocks and rivers are not silent'. What about 'freedom dignity and equality'? Therefore more than a third young adults in spite of not joining any religious order consider themselves spiritual.
