Publisher's Synopsis
Unsuccessful pulp detective fiction writer Howard Spitz (Kelsey Grammer) decides to try his hand at children's books, creating a bovine detective called 'Crafty Cow'. He enlists the editorial assistance of pre-teen Sam (Genevieve Tessier) in the library, agreeing to locate her absentee father, Bill, in return. To everyone's surprise, Crafty Cow becomes a huge success, but Howard hates kids and so hires bumbling actor Roger (Patrick McKenna) to 'play' him at public appearances. Meanwhile, a romance develops between Howard and Sam's mother, Laura (Amanda Donohoe).
