This book has an international flavour, introducing alternative theoretical approaches in labour economics and concentrating on the neoclassical, institutionalist and radical-Marxian schools. The readings in the remaining three parts are Australian.;Part 2 deals with differences in earnings, including the effects of unions, arbitration and discrimination. The third part covers the macroeconomics of the labour market emphasizing unemployment, inflation and relative income shares. In Part 4, such current issues of labour market policy as "deregulation" and the future of the accord are discussed.;Each part begins with an introductory essay, with page numbers cross-referencing the text. There are 24 individual readings covering current theoretical and policy issues and most of the selected readings have been written in the last four years.;The author has also written "Labour Economics: An Australian Perspective" and "Economic Exiles".
