Reading Stars Phonics Catch Up Packs are designed for Junior Schools, and or other educational institutions, helping pupils catch up with their phonics. The packs are specifically designed for use with pupils who have missed out on the end of their phonics learning in Year 2, due to lockdown, and who now have to catch up in Year 3. They include a subset of the books supplied for reception and KS1 phonics. The books chosen for these packs provide a good range of titles to cover the basic phonics requirements for this phase of a phonics teaching programme, and do not include any books which pupils may find too young in style.
This pack includes 57 books all covering all the sets of letters and sounds, blends and alternative spellings covered in a phonics programme. It specifically matches Letters and Sounds Phases 2 to 5.
This is not a pack of books written specifically for pupils struggling with reading, who need dedicated hi lo catch up resources. Reading Stars Plus is Ransom's series designed specifically for this purpose, with books written for pupils who have completed a full phonics programme at KS1, but who need help in relearning or reinforcing some of this phonics learning at Key Stage 2 and 3. These books are age appropriate for ages 7 right through to 14.
