Publisher's Synopsis

Reading Sociology: Canadian Perspectives, second edition, is a contributed reader comprised of edited contributions from members of the Canadian Sociological Association (CSA). The reader is divided into sixteen parts, beginning with 'What is Sociology?' and followed by 15 parts ranging in topic from 'Culture' and 'Deviance' to 'Work' and 'Health'. These topics serve as thematic lenses through which students can follow and investigate the study of sociology based on their own interests or to meet course requirements. With over 60 readings, a new correlation guide is included so that students can see how one reading is connected to another and encourage them to read conceptually. This text is intended for students in first- and second-year introductory sociology courses. This reader will give students an overview of the depth and breadth of current sociological research. It will most likely be used in conjunction with a standard introductory text, but may also be used as a core text.
