George Bernard Shaw died at Ayot St. Lawrence, Hertfordshire, on November 2, 1950. Educated at Le Moyne College (B.S.), Syracuse University (M.A.) and Yale University (Ph.D.), Rudolf Eisler currently teaches at the University of Virginia, where he arrived after leaving CalTech. Rudolf Eisler is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. In 2002 he was the recipient of three major awards. The University of Chicago awarded him an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters.
