Publisher's Synopsis

Triple bill of films produced and/or directed by horror meister Stuart Gordon. 'The Pit and the Pendulum' (1991), set during the time of the Spanish Inquisition, is an adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe's classic horror tale. When the beautiful Maria (Rona de Ricci) cries out in repugnance at the public torture of a child carried out by the inquisitor Torquemada (Lance Henriksen), she is immediately arrested herself and held under suspicion of witchcraft. Her husband Antonio (Jonathan Fuller) races to save her as the evil Torquemada begins preparing a special, personal punishment for his latest victim. In 'Castle Freak' (1995), John Reilly (Jeffrey Combs), his wife Susan (Barbara Crampton) and their beautiful blind daughter Rebecca (Jessica Dollarhide) inherit a castle in Italy. Rebecca begins to hear strange noises and senses a presence in the castle, and soon after she becomes the object of a monster's obsession. It is down to John to uncover his family's darkest secret in time to save his own wife and daughter. In 'Deathbed' (2002), children's book illustrator Karen (Tanya Dempsey) finds an old brass bed and begins using it to inspire her work. However, when she takes to sleeping in the bed, it provides her with an inspiration of an entirely different kind. Hallucinations, nightmares and bad memories begin to invade her life, and the young artist soon starts to wonder if she is being plagued by a malevolent spirit.
