Publisher's Synopsis

These verses express the thoughts of an African-Jamaican Rastafarian primarily with regards to certain burning questions arising from the Africans' current and long time position at the bottom of the global social ladder. Where did our journey start? How were we dispossessed? What are we currently experiencing? What is our future? At the same time, we remind ourselves of our positives: the generation of all non-African peoples; the origination of civilization; our warmth and universalism; and a morality of social co-existence most suitable to life in the global village. However, storm clouds are on the horizon. Global inter-cultural conflict is being engendered by the powers of great states. Can the cataclysm be avoided? And as the sciences and the technologies soar higher and higher, the economies stagnate and stumble, while inequality and deprivation increase. What can the African bring to the tables of global discussions? In various ways, directly and indirectly, these questions are explored in these verses. Further discussion, and documentary support, of my positions and interpretations are supplied in endnotes.
