J'ai été frappé de l'admirable position de ce puits pour résoudre la ques tion de la profondeur à laquelle ces gisements peuvent en toute probabi lité ètre exploités avec avantage. Il se trouve sur le bord d'un coteau qui descend à pic au sud - ouest, et la platière, connue localement sous le nom de la prairie de castor, se trouve il environ 400 pieds au-dessous du puits. Si l'on pratiquait une tranchée dans la côte à une profondeur suffi sante et à angle droit de son allure générale, elle révélet tout probable ment de nouveaux gisements d'apatite d'une étendue suffisante pour don ner un très joli profit.
