As the only fairy without wings, Rani feels left out and when she accidentally spoils the water fountain during a Fairy Dance, she feels even more useless and unwanted. Rani runs away and finds herself in Mermaid Lagoon. She goes to live with the beautiful mermaids, only to find once again that she doesn't fit in.
Rani does make one friend underwater, however: a sea horse who shows her a cave filled with magical pearls. Then a pleading message from Tinker Bell brings her back to the Home Tree, where Rani discovers just how much she was missed and where she uses six glowing pearls from the lagoon to help construct the most brilliant and magical water fountain Pixie Hollow has ever seen.
