The strength and the belief that Ragamuffin has to believe she will one day be loved and cherished. Her life has been a struggle, it is 1910, in London, her parents died from smallpox months previously, she was left on her own unable to find anyone to look after her. Ragamuffin walked the streets looking for food and begging. Her home was in a cardboard box under a railway bridge. Ragamuffin's only friend was her beloved rag doll. Mary finds Ragamuffin and she believes in her and tries to help Ragamuffin feel loved. With Ragamuffin's determination and imagination her life begins to transform.
