E.W. Hornung was a prolific English author and poet near the turn of the 20th century. Hornung is now best remembered for his stories featuring A.J. Raffles, the gentleman thief. The Raffles stories have been made into many films and television series and the popularity rivaled Sherlock Holmes at the time they were written. Raffles: Further Adventures of the Amateur Cracksman, published in 1901, is a collection of eight short stories.
