Publisher's Synopsis
This notable instalment of Radical History Review embodies the journal's recent move toward a more overtly political discussion of historical topics. According to the issue's coordinators, the intent is to 'publish writing about all of history and all parts of the world in as many different forms and formats as possible'. For instance, two sections cover public debates among historians. Eric Foner, Blanche Wiesen Cook, Manning Marable, and Amber Hollibaugh discuss 'Liberalism and the Left: Rethinking the Relationship', while Steve J. Stern, Judith Stacey, Linda Gordon, and Allen Hunter deal with the question 'What Comes After Patriarchy? Comparative Reflections on Gender and Power in a 'Post-Patriarchal Age'. This issue also reinvents the journal's early tradition of interviews in 'Locating the Black Intellectual: An Interview with Harold Cruse'. Of course, there are also new additions to the running sections on 'Teaching Radical History' and 'The Past in Print'.
