Young orphan Maggie Quickly is rescued from her cruel orphanage by her dashing adventurer Uncle Sideways; an eccentric scientist with a fondness for tea and fear of cows. He is struggling to regain his memory, lost from amnesia after an accident years earlier. Together, Quickly & Sideways work to unravel the mystery behind the soldiers. All the while, they are watched by shadowy figures - as well as someone who wants to have a word with Sideways over something that happened a long time ago...that he can't remember.
