Publisher's Synopsis
The incidence of age-related neurodegenerative diseases can be expected to rise dramatically in the future owing to an aging population. Consequently, finding the means of retarding the progression of such diseases becomes increasingly important. This volume focuses on research findings involving both nutritional and pharmacological strategies for slowing normal brain aging and its pathological variants such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases. Scientists well recognized for their molecular and mechanistic work in this area have contributed chapters to this volume. New concepts concerning neurodegenerative disease and its mitigation are also included in this volume, which is designed to promote the development of fresh research perspectives and therapeutic possibilities directed toward neuroprotection.
