Publisher's Synopsis
Recent developments in biotechnology have increased the need to protect these inventions and to regulate commercial exploitation. Patent claims for plants, animals, microorganisms and biological materials are sought both at national and international levels, and this demand has given rise to questions about the extent and sufficiency of the present protection afforded by property law and international conventions. In November 1990, in Brussels , Worldwide Information organized a conference entitled "Protecting and Exploiting Biotechnological Inventions". The papers presented at this conference are to be found in this book.
