Publisher's Synopsis
This book provides a summary of the working of the European Court and its central role in the development of EC law. It consists of the edited papers given at a conference at which insights on procedure were given by practitioners and academics. Leading case decisions illustrate the extent of the Court's jurisdiction, its relationship to national courts and to Community institutions. The system of applications and referrals is explained - particularly relating to Article 177. A view from the Court is provided by Timothy Millett from the Research and Documentation Division of the European Court of Justice. An introduction draws together the topics examined in the paper and provides a description of the basic issues. "Procedure and the European Court" is a guide to procedure leading to and at the European Court, including the Court of First Instance.
