A team of contributors from Hungary, Poland, USA, USSR and Yugoslavia consider what is now the central economic and political conundrum facing China, Eastern Europe and USSR: the transformation from centrally planned economies to forms of "market socialism" which can interact advantageously with the capitalist economies.
