The year was 1943, she was living in Bavaria, sent with her classmates to be safe from war. Her tale includes sumptuous banquets and a life "where the Prince doesn't have to do anything, because no one asks him to do anything."
During this time, Christine's life was a far cry from the fairy tale she wrote. We can enjoy it and read it to our children and grand-children. Some of us can appreciate the irony of this fairy tale written by a young German girl surrounded by privation and stilled voices. Let's enjoy the imagination of a child who has evolved into a woman who stands and speaks for Peace in every way, each day.
