El estudio cada vez mayor del espanol en escuelas secundarias y universidades se ha hecho necesaria la elaboracion de un texto de caracter mas simples que los de uso comun. En el presente texto, especialmente en las primeras selecciones, el lenguaje se ha simplificado de manera que la lectura puede ser iniciado en una etapa muy temprana en el trabajo del alumno. No se ha considerado necesario para abastecer las notas, ya que el asunto es simple y el vocabulario le suministre toda la informacion necesaria. Todas las formas verbales que ocurren en el texto, ya sea regular o irregular, se han introducido en el vocabulario. It has not been considered necessary to supply notes, as the matter is simple and the vocabulary furnishes all necessary information. All verb forms occurring in the text, whether regular or irregular, are given in the vocabulary. There is constant repetition of common words and expressions, so that comparatively long lessons may be assigned and the pupil may be enabled to acquire an extensive knowledge of useful every-day Spanish and become familiar with the structure of the Spanish sentence at an earlier period than has been possible heretofore."
