Publisher's Synopsis
Primal Therapy and Arthur Janov have been sidelined by the general psychotherapy community, and either ignored or denigrated. This despite the fact that so many of the things Janov discovered have been validated and subsumed into the practices of psychotherapy all over the world. His trauma theory was ridiculed as an old Freudian reject, until the 90s and the decade of the brain. His claim that gestational and neonatal trauma has life-long effects was dismissed. But since the advent of the science of epigenetics, it is now taken seriously. As Art said to me, "They are reinventing Primal Therapy and treating it like a new discovery."I am a Primal Therapist trained by Dr. Janov and his wife Dr. France Janov. Art died October 1st, 2017 at age 93. And now the purpose of this book little book is to take a second look at the psychotherapy environment and explore the issues that keep this redheaded stepchild out of the mainstream. I don't expect to resolve any of the issues or change any minds, but I have tried to at least offer some food for thought.
