Publisher's Synopsis
"My biggest fear is that they'll realize who I am and see the real me I've hidden deep inside." - Hazel"Pride" is the story of Hazel learning to love themselves, just as they are. Hazel learns that true self-love isn't only about loving the part of yourself other people see, but also about loving who you see when you look in the mirror. I struggled during the process of writing and publishing this book. Some parts of me felt, and still feel, like this project is too risky. In releasing this project to the world, I can no longer hide in the shadows and now, I must live in my full truth. Pride is written in honor of the many LGBTQAI+ youth who are at risk of and succumb to suicide because of the pressure that comes with existing in a world that isn't designed for them. LGBTQAI+ youth should not have to carry the weight of everyone else's fears, insecurities, and judgements. With this book, my hope is to inspire at least one LGBTQAI+ youth to accept themselves as they are because far too many are lost in the battle of learning to love themselves. They shouldn't choose to become angels before they get their wings. If you need help, or know someone struggling with suicide, please call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255.
