Publisher's Synopsis
The theme of this book is that fervent prayer, which avails much, is a longstanding commitment and devotional lifestyle rather than a mere kneeling position or occasional occurrence. Just as we use a wheel to steer our vehicles, prayer turns the course of daily life to align us as followers of Christ with the driving force of faith in God's Word. The book makes the point that the "will," the "we'll," and the "weal" are all closely interconnected in the power of prayer. The first chapter is centered upon the importance of aligning our prayers with God's "will," or divine plan, as the first order of business in prayer. Next, prayer is discussed in chapter 2 as the cooperative effort of the community of believers who have determined that "we'll" pray as a united force in spiritual warfare as commanded by God, for we "wrestle not against flesh and blood" (Ephesians 6:12). Chapter 3 includes discussion of prayer for the "weal," or well-being of the nation, as ordained by God in 2 Chronicles 7:14: "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." Relying almost exclusively on the language from the scriptures, the author has included in the Appendix of the book several prayers that were written largely with the church setting and community of believers at heart. The prayers in the Appendix are not intended to be a substitute, however, for the leading of the Holy Spirit. Written primarily to the community of believers, this book is a useful tool for both individual and group study and for edifying the body of Christ through the foundation of the driving force of the connection of the "will," the "we'll," and the "weal" in the power of prayer. A study guide for the book is scheduled for publication in April of 2017.
