Publisher's Synopsis
Another Sam Falls publication to add to our collection, Plein Air documents a year the New York-based artist spent outdoors in four separate locations: Hartland, Vermont; Venice, California; Hudson, New York; and Sarvisalo, Finland, making his large-scale pigment-on-canvas paintings. Nature has always been a principle theme in Fall's work and he conveys the splendour and unpredictability with which the seasons change through the use of saturated pigments and the natural elements. Four concise texts- naturalist and analytical in turn- by Hammer Museum curator Aram Moshayedi accompany each location and body of work.
