The Book of Jeremiah represents the quintessence of the struggle of a prophet of God chosen to bear the awesome responsibility of admonishing the African/Edenic Israelites to turn away from false worship and apostasy. Jeremiah was persecuted, rebuffed, and scorned because he told the ABSOLUTE TRUTH (despite the cost to himself-and his wallet!) about the magnificent lifestyle of his people. He was hated by his own relatives (comp. John 15:18, 24, 25; Matt. 10:36, 37) and people who were destined for slavery and degradation because they refused to be obedient to God".
