Otto Piene (1928-2014) became well known in the early 1960s for his grid, smoke and fire compositions. In 1968 the co-founder of the ZERO group was invited to join the newly established Center of Advanced Visual Studies in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The combination of artistic ideas and the possibilities of technical advances were the main subject of the design concepts of his multimedia creations.
