This book is basically the same as The Fifth Mask, but without the sex scenes. The action opens with a murder in 'Jack The Ripper Territory'. But this time it's someone dressed up as a character from a Picasso painting who's plunging a knife into the unfortunate victim, a wealthy City trader. In order to help solve this high-profile case, two new recruits are brought into Chief Inspector Jedstone's team. One is Karin Bridlington a feisty cop from the tough side of town. The other is Charlie Daventry, a brilliant 'oddball with more brain cells than he can manage'. It's not long before sparks are flying between the two of them and another victim is dying in an even more bizarre way than the first one.
