This kit, for stargazing in the southern hemisphere, contains Philip's "Stargazing with a Telescope", Philip's "Southern Star Finder", Philip's "Star Chart", and Philip's "35oS Planisphere". "Stargazing with a Telescope" by Robin Scagell, reveals what to expect from a telescope, how to choose the right one for you, giving explanations of how they work, and how to set up and use any telescope. It also provides lists of objects to look at with different sizes of telescope, including galaxies, nebulae, photographic objects and supernova remnants. "Southern Star Finder" is a month-by-month calendar for star watchers in the southern hemisphere, featuring 12 charts showing the positions of stars, constellations and other celestial objects in both northerly and southerly directions for each month of the year. The "Star Chart" is a wall chart 705 x 300 mm, showing the stars of the night sky in three maps of the northern and southern hemispheres and the equatorial region. All stars visible with the naked eye are shown, with fainter star clusters and nebulae marked for observers with binoculars of small telescopes.The "35oS Planisphere" helps locate stars and constellations visible in the southern hemisphere, and work out sunrise and sunset times. Full instructions for use are included, as well as planetery tables giving the positions of the planets.
