Excerpt from Peter Rugg: The Missing Man
His mind. He published in the year 1846, at the end of his Mosses from an Old Manse a paper entitled A Virtuoso's Collection describing many real or imaginary beings. At the very close of this, in a climax which may or may not have been intentional, comes this de scription, more fully elaborated than any other in the whole essay, although it is full of them. The supposed visitor who describes this collection, sees at the end a figure which interests him who is de scribed as follows.
