Publisher's Synopsis

Samantha "Sam" Rose Johnson is a tough, cynical Licensed Private Detective who grew up in the south Sangamon neighborhood of Chicago, struggled through traumatic events including sexual assault, joined the United States Army Military Police and used her benefits to make it through law school. After facing sexual harassment at more than one law firm, and encountering institutional racism Sam decides she can be a private detective than most of those she met working with law firms. In People Skills, Sam is hired to locate her client's sister, who was adopted into a different family when he their siblings were all given up for adoption. Sam and Diana attempt to utilize on-line information sources and databases, but meet with negative results. Sam must travel to small-town Missouri to resolve the investigation. In the process of locating her client's sister, Sam is forced to face her own assumptions about people, as well as learning that small towns sometimes offer simpler solutions to mysteries than big cities.
