Excerpt from Parish Registers: A List of Those Printed, or of Which Ms. Copies Exist in Public Collections, Together With References to Extracts Therefrom, Printed and Manuscript
It will be noticed by those who have been in the habit of consulting the former editions of this list, that its form has been somewhat altered, chiefly by adding the County to each place. For the addition of the County to the names of places, as well as other emendations, the Society is indebted to our excellent Honorary Secretary, Mr. E. A. Fry, whose assistance in seeing the book through the press, I feel I ought to gratefully acknowledge. It may be remarked that this list does not contain any references Whatever to manuscript transcripts of Parish Registers in private hands. It was thought advisable not to include them, on account of the annoyance that might be caused to those possessing such transcripts by persons writing to know if entries relating to some particular family were to be found in them. The Secretary of the Parish Register Society, however, is always glad to hear of the transcription, contemplated or made, of any Parish Register, with a View to its being printed by the Parish Register Society.
