Publisher's Synopsis
The late imperial period witnessed a cross-pollinated genre of panegyric and historiography, the remnants of which are collected in this volume of fourth and fifth century authors. The texts are primarily centred around the reigns of Constantine I and Julian, include the first part of the Anonymus Valesianus and historical epics that are closely related to laudatory contemporary history.
