The practice is found all over the world, with numerous cultural variations. It is used as a tool to practice divination, which is to gain insight into the multiple dimensions of life. Other such tools for divination include astrology, numerology, Tarot cards and dowsing. Those who practice chiromancy are generally called palmists, palm readers, hand readers, hand analysts, or chirologists.
