Scott Bailey's first day with a US Government pack train very nearly becomes his last day on earth. Narrowly escaping an ambush, he soon experiences other attempts on his life. Someone is determined to kill him but he does not know who or why. He finds himself embroiled in a dangerous situation involving law officers, military men and renegades and suspects that he is being used as bait to trap the leader of a criminal operation. Scott begins to unravel the mystery after being given some vital information by the new friends he is making in town. He teams up with Maley, a government investigator with a dubious reputation. They work together to destroy the criminal operation but the unknown leader remains at large. It all leads up to a final life-and-death confrontation in which Scott discovers that the only person he can trust is himself…
