Publisher's Synopsis
This handbook aims to provide students who are beginning courses in computer science, with a comprehensive insight into the nature of basic system software (in particular, software for program compilation and execution) by means of a detailed commentary on the architecture, operation and Turbo Pascal source code of a complete miniature programming system, namely syntax checker, compiler and machine code interpreter, for a tiny Pascal-subset programming language called PL/T. The primary purpose of the book is to facilitate in-depth study of the source listings of these typical system programs, which it includes in full. The complete system is also available for supporting practical use in writing PL/T programs or, if desired, in system extension project work.
