Publisher's Synopsis
A disturbing husband and wife murder case for Lubbock and Tench Norfolk, January 1953. In the aftermath of the Great Storm, ex-detective John Lubbock and his friend Chief Inspector Mike Tench find themselves investigating a double murder. Valerie Kingham was found naked in a dinghy, a bullet hole in her forehead. A couple of days later, her husband's body is discovered at the foot of an old tower. It would appear that Kingham murdered his wife and then killed himself - but the pathologist's report shows that he'd been bound and gagged before death. There is no shortage of suspects - Valerie was having an affair and Kingham has a shady past. But the truth, when it finally emerges, is far from what Lubbock and Tench expect.
