When she left school, Tina, along with her friend Rose, found a job working in a printing factory. Tired of living a life of drudgery with an abusive father and a slatternly stepmother, she vows to leave as soon as she can. Tina gets the opportunity to do this when she sees an advert for other work and she takes it, much to the chagrin of her father who is uncouth, a drunk and a bully, and wants to control every aspect of her life. Will he ever let her live a life of her own? Will she ever be completely free from him? And how much hurt can she take before she is? This is a story of a young woman's struggle for a life of normality.
