"The protagonist, an actor, follows a theatrical ritual based on household objects in a place that is neither geographically nor temporally specified. He organizes actions without reaching a goal and dialoguing with his double, with imaginary characters and apparitions, including the apparition of Santa Margherita, the first woman to appear, to be followed by the other figures of his wife and servant. In the meantime, a council of cardinals meets who would like to elect the actor as a saint, who expresses himself in blasphemies and other evidence so as not to be elected saint, including the pronunciation of the famous speech: "There are idiots who have seen the Madonna and idiots who have not seen the Madonna.
