Jeremy rattled his cage. Padlocked in a dog crate hardly bigger than him, he was on the verge of tears. He didn't know where he was. He didn't know the reason for his brutal abduction, the explanation for his imprisonment just as elusive. To put it simply, Jeremy was frightened out of his fucking mind. Forced to fold his legs to his stomach, his feet were past the point of numbness. They were deadweight to him, like concrete blocks used to hold down corpses in lakes. Moreover, he was alone. There were no other prisoners to reassure him that his captors wouldn't turn to torture or murder. He was going mad. It had been over two days since he last glimpsed the sun.
