She got married in February 1949 and, after three months, decided to separate from her husband. More than that: she was pregnant and despaired. Suicide? Abortion? She decided to go ahead. And she suffered for it. Being a single mum, in the countryside of Minas Gerais, the daughter of farmers, in the late 1940s, was definitely not easy.
