Joe Slocomb leads a double life. By day, he's a successful newspaper columnist working for one of New York City's major dailies, living a happy uncomplicated married existence in bedroom Connecticut. By night, Joe hangs around Manhattan's music scene, writing songs that nobody hears. But when one of those songs becomes an accidental hit his two worlds collide. More hits follow and the lyrics gradually reveal the details of a secret love affair. In both his love and work lives, there are moral dilemmas, hard decisions and cruel consequences. And along the way, there are a couple of dozen pop songs.
