Publisher's Synopsis
Oregon is a state on the western coast of the United States. Located between the Pacific Ocean and four other states, it was established in 1859. The state has a long history, and many natural wonders. For example, it is home to the world's largest living organism, armillaria ostoyae, which occupies 3.4 square miles of land in Eastern Oregon. This fungus is so large that scientists have dubbed it the Humongous Fungus.
