Publisher's Synopsis

Excerpt from Opening of the Building of the Chamber of Commerce of the State of New-York and Banquet in Honor of the Guests Who Attended the Dedicatory Ceremonies, November 11, 1902: Together With a Brief History of the Chamber From 1768 to 1902

The proceedings were fitly opened by a most impres sive dedicatory prayer offered by the Reverend Doctor morgan DIX, Rector of Trinity Church. The invoca tion was couched in a strain of lofty piety and of deep spiritual insight. If one petition more than another elicited a devout response in the hearts of all, it was, perhaps, the following: Give, in this place, the spirit of Vigilance, of clear discernment, of wise counsel, and the voice to speak to the community and the country strong words, good words, comfortable words, as occao sion Shall suggest and exigency demand.
