Publisher's Synopsis
For four and a half months, he found himself in the predominantly hot, dry desert of Afghanistan's Kandahar Airfield Airport (CHAFF). Routine did not exist there. Every day, something happened that was different from the original schedule or that made the day very special. Almost daily, he kept his diary. More than three years after the broadcast, he decided to create his diary entries in this book. This is a collection of thirty different stories, daily and special events, each with their own emotions, the inside and outside of the gates of CHAFF is described. Patrick van Straten has been working at the rank of major in the Department of Defense. After sixteen years in various positions, including sailing functions in the Royal Navy, he moved to the Royal Air Force. In the year 2010, he was sent to Afghanistan.
