Publisher's Synopsis
This book takes Nigeria as an excellent case study for examining how the various issues involved in fiscal federalism in a developing country are handled. Since independence, its states have been locked, to a greater or lesser extent, in a fierce competition over the sharing of national revenue and other resources. Out of the 21 state structure, only 6 are substantively oil producing and the search for a satisfactory revenue allocation principle for interstate sharing of resources is still wanting. This study is intended to identify new ideas for fiscal federalism with less conflict in NigeriaÆs third republic.
