Publisher's Synopsis

Guinevere is a young girl whose mother teaches medieval history and has told Guinevere many stories about knights in shinning armor, Camelot and the beautiful women of those times. Guinevere has gotten enthralled with these ideas about medieval life, and starts thinking more and more, "I would love to go back there, to that gorgeous time!"
One day she hears about machines that will take you back to medieval times. She has a playhouse, and inside it she goes to work, getting all kinds of strange things that she thinks would be useful in the time machine such as an old radio, a washtub and various wires and knobs. Guinevere is someone who when things don't go well, she gets angry, she swears. Her mother said she could not swear, but one day Guinevere heard a friend of her mother's say, "Oh, Fudge!" When Guinevere heard that she asked her mother if "Oh, Fudge!" would be all right to say when she gets angry. Her mother said that would be fine, so now she says, "Oh, Fudge!" whenever she gets upset.
Her friend Freddie comes into her playhouse when she is trying to use her time machine. He comes in all excited because his father is a magician and he just got a book on magic from him that he wants to show her. In the book is a magic horse, named "Fudge." When she chases Freddie out of her playhouse and tries her time machine, it doesn't work, and she gets angry and stamps her foot three times and says, "Oh, Fudge!" and in that conjures up he magic horse, Fudge - and that is when her adventure begins!
