Lorian and Finriel attempt to reunite with the other companions while running from the Red King's men, bumping into old friends and fighting unresolved feelings for each other along the way. They learn of Aeden's coronation; their friend turned enemy, gaining a crown taken from a dead man.
Tedric must deal with the repercussions of breaking the peace law: a curse now living inside him until his last breath. The broken commander returns to Keadora, only to find his old life has gone forever, and his new reality is far from desired.
