Numicon Kit 3. Activity Handbook

Numicon Kit 3 for children aged 7-8 extends the Numicon multi-sensory approach to maths with step-by-step activities for developing children's understanding of more complex concepts. It offers greater emphasis on problem-solving from real-world contexts plus practical guidance for teachers and easy-to-use planning and assessment support. All the activities in this Handbook have been developed by the authors as they worked with children and teachers. Numicon Kit 3 Activity Handbook provides: · 30 activity groups supporting three key mathematical strands: Pattern and Algebra, Numbers and the Number System, and Calculating. · Step-by-step activities that develop children's ability to think and talk mathematically, · problem-solve, and apply their skills to real-world contexts · Clear overviews for each activity group that highlight the educational context, · learning and assessment opportunities and key mathematical vocabulary · Getting Started activities to familiarise teachers and children with the Numicon · approach and apparatus · Support for short-, medium- and long-term planning. The Numicon Kit 3 Activity Handbook is designed to be used with the Numicon Kit 3 Teaching Guide, which gives further background and support for using the Numicon approach in the classroom.
